Software Maintenance
BACKGROUND
LARC TEST is a diagnostic tool that helps trainers, owners and vets improve both race results and the overall health of their horse. This app uses heart rate, lactic acid and respiratory rate to show how intense each workout is for an individual horse and allows you to adjust the training plan to take care of your horse.
TECH CHALLENGES
All software components were left without active support for a number of years, so the mobile apps needed update in order to be kept in the app stores and backend system needed an update in order to make sure there are no security vulnerabilities.
IMPLEMENTATION CHALLENGES
There was quite a bit of work to be done, but the client’s budget did not account for such CAPEX costs. We manage to create a maintenance plan, where our team would work on a retainer bases for period of time and every month we would tackle the top priority items.
OUR SKILLS IN ACTION
We focused on the most critical part - updating the mobile application for iOS and releasing a new version to match Apple’s requirements.
We also took time to fulfil all any legal requirements by Google for the Android application.
As next steps we put together the projects under our Quality Criteria framework and enforced CI/CD pipelines, test coverage and SonarCloud metrics, before continuing with major language and library updates on the backend side.
